HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Today we celebrated the birthday's of two of the greatest men in my life. . .my amazing husband, Richard, and my littlest man, Joshua! For me, celebrating a birthday has always been more than cake, ice cream and presents, rather, it is truly the celebration of a person's life. I am especially grateful for the lives of my husband and son and for the people that they are. Their lives bless mine each and every day and that is truly worth celebrating!

Although I did not have the privilege of spending the first 9 months of my son's life with him, it did not take me long to realize what a great mission and purpose the Lord must have for him. There is no doubt in my mind that he will touch many, many lives as he goes through the course of his own. He has already touched mine more deeply than words can express.

Happy Birthday my boys! I cherish you both!

Happy birthday! What a precious family you have!

Was it hard adopting from two countries at the same time? How was Uzbek?

Shelley- After threatening to kill me if I posted his "cake" pictures on our blog, I think his comments went something like this, "People do not want to see a fat man eating cake. . just stick with the cute baby!"

Christine- It was definitely interesting adopting from two countries simultaneously. We had only 2 weeks between trips and it was such a whirlwind. Obviously I wouldn't change a thing, but next time I think we will just stick with one country at a time.

Uzbekistan is still very new to international adoption and the process is not as established as some other countries. Because they seem to be constantly "reworking" their process, it was very stressful at times. It is a beautiful country with amazing people and beautiful children! I really am grateful that I was able to experience it and look forward to teaching my son all about where he came from.

Valerie,
Soooo happy that things are coming together in your new family. One evening my son (3.5 from Ukraine) was sitting on my lap as I was reading your post. I was looking at Joshua eating his cake. Peter said, "What that boy doing?" "Eating his birthday cake". "Him making a mess". "Well, he is only one and that is what babies do." "I not make messes like that". So a couple of days later I was on my computer and he came rushing into my office saying, "Mamma, I want to see that little baby that was making a mess." He is still asking. Joshua made quite the impression on him!
ENJOY!! We do!
